Out and About

I had a weekend in New York a week ago. I led two and a half workshops, and gave a luncheon keynote address for the Presbytery of New York City. Though a busy day, all went well. My classroom was on the twentieth floor of the bell tower of Riverside Church. At one point in the morning it sounded as though a cell phone was ringing. No one answered, so I assumed they were kind enough to wait. However, I later learned the sound was from a pair of perigrine falcons who nest in the tower. Had I known that, I would have stopped the class to have a look! My room was in a small apartment hotel between Times Square and Rockerfeller Center. It has been several years since I prowled that area, and I enjoyed being there again. Saturday I called a friend in Yonkers Ruth and I have known for about 20 years, and she took me to the Village for dinner. Along the way we saw two of the 9/11 walls of posters. It was sobering.
