The New House, part 1

Here are some pictures of the new house. There are more on another roll of film around here somewhere, but heckifiknow where they are! Click on the picture to see a bigger version.

Front of the house, from the northwest

Looking at the front from the northwest. The house faces west, the street runs north-south. The three visible windows are the front room; the front bedroom windows are hidden by the enormous tree on the left side of the picture.

Front of the house, from the southwest

Looking at the front from the southwest. All the trees in this picture are ours. The two giant evergreens sticking up in the back of the house have a treehouse sandwiched between them.

The garden in the northeast corner of the back yard

The garden in the northeast corner of the back yard. One of the first things we did was put stockade fencing up around the existing garden plot and raised bed to keep the pups out. The garden has been a moderate success. Katie has gotten lots of good lettuce, several heads of cauliflower, and a few zuchinni and carrots out of it. Not the same sort of bounty that we had (or would have had except for the rampaging ungulates) last year, but good to eat nonetheless. The problem is the plot itself, which is not ideally situated — the big pair of trees with the treehouse ends up blocking the sun a good part of the day. Next year, we’ll probably move the fence out further into the yard and have a shady bed and a sunny bed.

The shed in the southeast corner of the back yard

The shed in the southeast corner of the back yard. The previous owner had this is 8’ × 12’ shed built. It’s surprising just how big it is when you step inside.
